There was a surprising amount of interest in the First Annual Full Moon Chingo, so Chase agreed to put another one together the very next month. Looks like he started something! I bent my driveshaft on the last run. This time Zukizzy from the Marlin Forum offered a spot on his trailer for my rig. Plus I got to ride in leather lined, air-conditioned comfort to the lakebed in his Big Ass Motorhome. Living large. A big thank you goes out to Wayne for his hospitality and friendship. All he asked for in return, that I keep wheeling. No problem. See you on the trail ,Wayne.
This rig was built to rock! It always draws a crowd. Check out those coil overs, portal axles, and the hand built tubular frame! Here Cameron tops off the coolant while Brian plugs in the headlights.
People are starting to show up.
Wayne and his group decided to run Wrecking Ball. The rest of us tackled Outer Limits.
On the way to Outer Limits. Hmmmm, where'd the leader go?
It was an adventure just finding the trail. Our trail boss took us to the secret, secret entrance. It was so secret, even he didn't know where it was.
Not quite full, but the night was clear and there was just enough light to see the terrain.
Wheelin' !
Chase pulls up...
...parks...
...waiting...
...time to go...
...and Jason straps him off.
That's Wes' rig.
Cameron's rig.
One trail repair. Wes broke a brake line. He cut it, pulled out the flaring tool, repaired it, added fluid, bled the brakes and continued on.
Two trail repairs. Wes snapped a lower control arm in half and ripped the mount off the housing for the upper control arm. Here he welds his suspension components back on. A high lift jack handle works great as a four link control arm!
Here comes Jason's carbuerated first generation. I think this was at the last waterfall.
Those bead locks are purty. Earlier he popped an inner bead. Oh yeah, Jason is running STOCK Birfields!
Wes taps the starter in just the right spot. Where all the hammer marks are. Jason had trouble with his starter all night.
But didn't have any trouble wheelin' Outer Limits.
Joe runs an Xtra-cab cut open at the back. That allows room for passengers. He had no trouble with the run all night.
Climbing out of the last waterfall as day breaks.
Chase's style is effortless.
Watch for a transformation soon. F-Toy baby. Yeah!
Up and over.
The only trouble Chase had was losing air in the right rear. Dirt in the bead? Notice the little compressor keeping the tire from going completely flat.
Teag is tight against the body damage rock. He has never run The Hammers. First time out and he does it at night! He brought his wife and son and the family dog.
We finished the run at daybreak and made it back to the lakebed at around 7am. A full 11 hours of wheelin' at night on Outer Limits at The Hammers. Once again I had the honor of meeting some new folks, and the pleasure of wheelin' with familiar faces and friends. All who enjoy the extreme sport of rock crawling. I managed to stay awake for the whole run, with a little nap as Wes welded, and had the time of my life. Thanks to everybody for making it a fun time. I am looking foward to our next adventure.
